Responsibilities
- Provide DSMES — personalized nutrition counseling, glucose monitoring education, and lifestyle coaching

- Develop individualized care plans incorporating nutrition strategies and glucose monitoring guidance
- Document patient encounters in Athena EMR; collaborate with referring endocrine providers
Qualifications

District Endocrine welcomes medical students — including those from VCOM (Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine) and other accredited medical schools — to complete an outpatient endocrinology rotation at our Northern Virginia practice. Work directly alongside board-certified endocrinologists in a high-volume, academically active private practice.
International Medical Graduates (IMGs) are welcome to apply. We are committed to an inclusive and diverse team. Please note that we have very limited capacity — approximately 1–2 slots per year — to accommodate IMG candidates. We encourage early outreach and apply well in advance.
About the Rotation
- Hands-on outpatient endocrinology experience across three Northern Virginia locations
- Exposure to a wide spectrum of endocrine conditions: diabetes (Type 1 & 2), thyroid disorders, obesity medicine, PCOS, adrenal and pituitary disorders, osteoporosis, and more
- Participation in in-office thyroid ultrasound and FNA biopsy procedures
- Observation of CGM and insulin pump management, GLP-1 therapy initiation, and dynamic endocrine testing
- Academic discussion of current endocrine guidelines and evidence-based clinical decision-making
- Opportunity to contribute to research, case presentations, or quality improvement projects
Who Should Apply
- MS3 or MS4 medical students seeking an outpatient internal medicine or endocrinology elective
- Students from VCOM, USUHS, GWU, Georgetown, VCU, and other regional and national medical schools
- Students with an interest in endocrinology, internal medicine, obesity medicine, or primary care
- DO and MD students are equally welcome
